A qualified Store Manager candidate typically has a college degree or a combination of secondary education, retail, and supervisory experience with Key-Holder responsibilities. They possess great people and team leadership skills, interpersonal, and communication skills with our Team Members and customers. Our store managers combine outstanding leadership skills and business management experience to set clear performance goals, react quickly to market and seasonal trends, manage the store budget, execute inventory control, and present a shopper friendly, creative merchandised showroom. 

Bring your leadership skills to cultivate a culture for excellence: Our Store Managers effectively lead their store teams to DELIVER Legendary Service, which builds on-going loyalty with our customers as the “Go To” place for lawn and garden products and pet care products and services. They hold their Team Members accountable for consistent standards of excellence and communicate a well-defined set of cultural priorities and non-negotiable values. 

Our Store Managers manage sales and payroll to budget and lead all retail store operations. They guide Team Members on floor sales techniques to achieve store and corporate sales goals and met superlative customer satisfaction goals. Store Managers creatively plan and implement a store plan of product displays to stimulate an engaging customer shopping experience. Store Managers are responsible for hiring, Team Member performance, training and development, compensation, and coaching Team Members to maintain store appearance and stock, on merchandising, creative product displays, managing inventory flow and warehouse management. Our Store Managers ensure that we maintain a safe and clean shopping environment throughout the facility and property. 

Job Duties include: Our Store Managers are responsible for all store operations, including leadership for Legendary Customer Service, retail store management and continual improvement. Store Managers set Team Member work schedules, training, daily opening, closing and daily cash-out functions. Store Managers lead department Team Members for efficient and effective front-end operations, all warehouse operations, yard management and stock replenishment. Store Managers hire, manage, train, and motivate Team members to consistently exceed goals and standards. They work with their Area Managers to develop and execute store events and promotions, contributing ideas and thoughts regarding customer interests, product advertising, and competition. Our Store Managers lead their store’s team in managing and implementing seasonal changeovers and execution of all inventory control activities to achieve store loss and shrink goals. Some of our stores have live animal departments and some have full greenhouses and nurseries, in addition to general merchandise departments. Our Store Managers work with the Team Members to ensure the safe and humane treatment of live animals, and the health, presentation, and care of live plants, trees and shrubs. 


Requirements: Our Store Managers typically have 5+ years of retail experience and a bachelor’s degree or compensatory retail experience. operate with high personal integrity and work ethic; further, they are optimistic, energetic, enthusiastic, and they have a passion for helping customers with pet and garden center products. Our Store Managers plan, organize, and implement multi-step and multi-person projects. They have great organizational and time management skills, leading in a team environment, and ability to troubleshoot technology issues and people concerns with their teams and resolve customer issues with empathy yet strongly focused corporate responsibility. 

Store Manager candidates must submit to a background check prior to the extension of an offer of employment. 

This position requires a minimum work schedule of 45-50 hours per week. Our Management Teams work a six/five-day rotational schedule with work on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, and especially during our peak Spring and Summer sales periods between March and June due to the heavy needs of the business.
